Christos E. Georgiou possesses a Mechanical Engineering Degree awarded by the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in 1992. He was also awarded a Masters degree in Productive Systems Management by the same university in 2000 and during 2010 he was awarded his Ph. D. degree in the research field of “Business Administration”, from “Business Administration Department” – University of Patras. In the period 1987-1993 he participated as a researcher in various research projects of the Industrial Management Sector of the Mechanical Engineering Department of the School of Mechanical Engineering at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
For a number of years he has worked as a researcher in projects assigned by the Greek government. He has also worked for large private firms, for the elaboration of studies and research papers in such fields as: national and regional competitiveness, entrepreneurship and innovation, analysis and evaluation of investment schemes, corporate strategic management and evaluation of the impact of structural policies and programs on the national economy and competitiveness. In the period 1998-2001 he was responsible for the “Technology Transfer Center” of the “Technology Park of Thessaloniki”. During the 2001-2003 three-year period he has been Adjunct Scientific Officer at the “Observatory of Regional Innovation and Entrepreneurship” of the Region of Central Macedonia, a structure unique in its kind throughout Greece.
He currently serves as Director of the Documentation and Research Department of the Federation of Industries of Northern Greece (FING), a position that he holds since 2003. From 2003 up to date he heads the Greek research team that co-operates with the International Institute for Management Development (IMD), since FING functions as the IMD’s representative in Greece.
For more than ten years, he offers consulting services to family business in Greece and Cyprus in the field of successful succession procedure. In 2013, together with Professor Asterios G. Kefalas, released his book titled: “The succession procedure in family business”.
