John Dimakis is the Executive Director and one of the two founding partners of STR Ltd, which is a specialized communication strategy firm, based in Athens – Greece. He holds a physics degree from the Aristotelian University of Thessaloniki and a MSc. in Information Technology Systems from the National University of Athens. He was communication and technologies fellow during 2000 at the Leadership Institute in Washington D.C.
As a communication consultant he has been active for fifteen years both in Greece and in Cyprus. He has provided the strategic framework for the communication of major companies in both countries and has also focused on internal communication of business firms.
He has been actively involved as a strategist in the political campaigns of parties and candidates for parliament and for mayorships both in Greece and Cyprus. In 2008 he was actively involved in designing the communication strategy of the President of Cyprus, Dimitris Christofias and in 2010 in designing the communication strategy of DHSY political party in parliamentary elections in Cyprus. In 2012 was involved in designing the communication strategy for the current President of Cyprus, Nikos Anastasiades.
He has extensive expertise in Crisis Communication Management, TV training, Communication Techniques, Speech Writing and has been teaching on such subjects at University Colleges in Athens and Cyprus. His experience extends to formulating and developing corporate internal communication strategy. Before joining STR as a Senior Partner he was Communication & Information Technology Director at the Adam Group of Companies, -a leading Greek group in the areas of Publishing, Printing and Packaging.
John Dimakis has made many presentations in seminars and conferences, both in Greece and Cyprus. His articles have been published in many daily Greek and Cypriot newspapers. He was a senior communication consultant for the Ministry of Culture of Greece, during Athens 2004 Olympic Games and senior advisor to the Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister of Greece in 2012-2013. He is also a visiting professor (in the subject of Entrepreneurial Communication Strategy – Executive Leadership Program) at Cyprus International Institute of Management (CIIM) in Nicosia.
